Healing is a journey, not a destination.

hello17677

I'm sure you've heard this a time or two before- Healing is a journey, not a destination. But it's true. There is no such thing as being 'healed' as a fixed state. There is always opportunity to grow and evolve. Though, evolution is up to you.

Healing involves understanding what events have shaped you in a way that wasn't healthy. Learning what events have not been fully processed and moved through. Understanding what beliefs negatively impact our mental health. How our body is holding on to trauma.

Gaining insight is the first step. Being self aware is vital to the beginning stages of healing. This isn't always easy. Getting in touch with your shadow is a difficulty, messy and uncomfortable process. Recognizing and embracing our shame and guilt is all a part of the process.

Embracing shame and guilt, rather than rejecting it is how you begin to challenge your old ways and begin new patterns. These new patterns are of your choosing and reflect your current goals for yourself and your life. Nothing is ever fixed, so these goals are allowed to change and grow. Remember how healing is a journey and not a destination?

As we grow and age, so do our goals, desires and awareness. We learn through our new experiences and these can reflect back on our healing journey. Every experience is an opportunity to learn about yourself and change things as desired/needed.

Don't allow this to feel daunting. Shifting perspectives to allow your healing journey to be exciting can help getting started. You have the opportunity to create the life you have always dreamed of!
