Brainspotting is a trauma modality designed to help people process through trauma. It is similar to EMDR, but different in that it uses 'spots' in a person vision to target a trauma memory. These 'spots' are linked to trauma memories and negative emotions. Using a pointer, the therapist activates the emotions and/or memories to process and reprogram.

Brainspotting taps into the body's natural self scanning and healing process. Identifying spots can look like certain facial tics, brown furrowing, yawning, coughing, pupil dilation, etc.

Brainspotting doesn't involve talking like other therapies, but allows the client to stay in the process by not having to explain what is occurring at each step.
